So you may have heard the term “wholesale supplier”, but you might not know exactly what to expect when you use one. Let’s go through exactly what you will be getting when you use the services of a wholesale supplier.

First up, be aware that a wholesale supplier is not a retail business. That means that they often don’t have a brick and mortar location that you can visit, and if they do, you shouldn’t expect everything to be laid out promotionally on shelves with soft lighting and annoying sales staff. A wholesale supplier is in fact the place that your favorite stores obtain all their products – and in general they work as a big warehouse for a variety of different products.

Pricing. Pricing is one of the biggest things about a wholesale supplier that is amazingly different to a retail supplier. You can definitely expect to save anything between twenty five and 70% on the MSRP price of an item when you pay for it directly from a wholesale supplier. Additionally, wholesale suppliers often offer an additional discount for bulk orders. That means if you decide to purchase one item, you may be paying more that if you decided to buy one-hundred. The reason for this is that the prices offered by a wholesale source will generally include a fixed administration fee, and by purchasing in bulk, you are able to avoid additional fees because they don’t need to process any more paperwork than if you were only buying one item.

Quality. The quality of items offered from wholesale vendors fluctuates immensely. Some suppliers will just stock cheap junk which are aimed at discount stores and flea markets, while others will stock a full range of varying items which will meet the needs of whichever market you decide you would like to sell to.

Delivery. Wholesale suppliers will offer a range of delivery methods. You may want to purchase items and stock them in your own home, or you may want to have them directly delivered to your customer. You should talk to your wholesale supplier and find out what services they offer and how this can benefit your business.

Policy. Like any business, a wholesale source will have a range of policies pertaining to the way they do business. It is your job to check out exactly what their policies are and ensure that you are happy doing business with them prior to making purchases. Most wholesale suppliers will allow returns, however you may be faced with a restocking fee, which is purely in place to allow the wholesaler to keep their prices at a minimum.

Some wholesale suppliers will also offer wholesale prices to the general public. That means if you are an individual you can take advantage of buying products at far cheaper prices that you would be able to in stores. The hardest part about doing this, is finding a wholesale supplier, as they do little advertising to keep down costs.
